Founded over three decades ago, NBMCH is a medical school. Dr. B.C. Roy is the founder and director of our medical university. He has worked hard over the years to ensure that his vision becomes the success that it is today.

We began with a few students and a faculty of 5. Our first classes were done in our pioneer hall, long before the iconic quadrangle in the school was constructed.

The school’s faculty and students have gained great influence and knowledge every passing decade. And, this has shaped medicine in the U.S. and beyond its borders. The accomplishments of some of our community members have become legendary.

Our medical school boasts a rich history like most top medical schools in the country. Our medical school community members have extended knowledge boundaries for over 30 years.

Various entries have been made in faculty members’ accomplishments at our school’s research institutions and affiliated hospitals

Since the medical school was founded, our faculty members have innovated their roles as mentors, physicians, and scholars to enhance human health. They’ve developed educational models and new curricula to solve emerging healthcare needs.

Faculty members have also produced thousands of compassionate caregivers and leaders with passion and expertise in the medical and science fields across the world.

Members of the NBMCH Medical School community have also done well in research. Members of faculties have made and continue to make paradigm-changing discoveries. They’ve achieved “firsts” since the inception of the medical school, with groundbreaking discoveries.

The accomplishments of our faculty members enjoy worldwide recognitions, with at least 10 researchers having shared in 5 Noble prizes for amazing work accomplished at the school.

The Faculty of Medicine has over 10,000 knowledgeable members working to elevate knowledge boundaries in classrooms, labs, and clinics. Out quadrangle has almost 150 tenure-track and experienced faculty members in social science and basic departments.

The quadrangle also houses classrooms for students in their first couple of years in medical school. However, research and teaching extend beyond the quadrangle.

Our medical school has affiliation agreements with at least 10 of the most prestigious research institutions and hospitals worldwide. Our partners play a critical role in offering training and clinical care. They’re also a base for over 8,000 scientists and physicians with faculty appointments.

With our extensive affiliate network, talent reservoir, and dedication to solving health problems, our medical school is distinctly-positioned to drive health research and education to benefit international, national, and local communities.

Located in the United States, our medical school has purposed to educate physicians in the medical field. We play a major role in the United States of America’s medical education.

At NBMCH, we confer upon our graduates a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, and offer a combination of programs that allow our students to earn both an MD or DO and a Bachelor’s degree.

We offer two years of classroom learning and education based on laboratory experiments, and two years of clinical rotations. The latter occurs in teaching hospitals, allowing our students to attend to patients first hand in various specialties.

Graduates complete residency after finishing their education, but prior to getting a license to practice medicine. Admissions to our medical school is highly competitive. The requirements for admitting a student to the medical school include:

Whereas some students have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, others have advanced degrees such as master’s or doctorate degrees.

However, we don’t necessarily require a degree in biological sciences. Instead, we require a set of undergraduate courses in scientific disciplines to prepare students for medical school.

Published in 1910, the Flexner Report reformed medical education in the U.S. Based on the report, structured medical education standards and regulations were implemented.

Our medical school is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) to offer M.D. degrees. The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association also accredits our school of medicine to offer osteopathic medical programs.

The American Medical Association and the Association of American Medical Colleges sponsor LCME to carry out its mandate.

At NBMCH medical school, we strive to cultivate an inclusive environment of learning that supports student collaboration, including staff and faculty. We develop new avenues for discussions to enhance our shared mission and vision, with a focus on enhancing people’s health across the world.

The society today is increasingly diverse and keeps changing at a fast pace. Therefore, we strive to prepare a workforce that’s sensitive and a true representation of everyone in an ideal community. Diversity isn’t just about ethnicity and race. But, it also covers:

  • Language
  • Sexual orientation
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Disability and ability
  • Class
  • Inter-sectionality of all the attributes above

Our rich diversity drives our strength in research, teaching and offering clinical care. According to our Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership, diversity is one of the major reasons behind the success of our medical school.
