College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai

It was the winter of 2008 when I stepped into the hallows of this magnificent institute named the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai. As they say the name follows the repute, I had heard a lot of good about this institute from various sources, over a long period of time, but actually being a council member of such an institute was a dream come true for me. With the support of my fellow council members and medical community at large, I was successfully elected the president of CPS in the year 2012. Sitting in the same office wherein the likes of the founder president Surgeon-General H W Stevenson and other stalwarts sat and worked for CPS, not only gave me a sense of pride but also gave me a huge sense of responsibility. Shouldering such as mammoth task of managing the working of this ancient institute was tough at first, but kudos to my colleagues and staff, this was soon made well oiled. The institute has made rapid progress in recent times, and I am proud to say that it is presently catering to the teachings and post-graduate qualifications of medical students in many parts of our country. Also in the last year or two, the Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom have acknowledged our presence and are committed towards further association and accreditation with us. I am sure CPS is here to stay and to continue to render qualified medical personnel to the society at large for now and forever!!
