Government Medical College, Mahabubnagar is a medical school and tertiary Care hospital established at Edira, Mahabubngar district, State of Telangana. The medical college is located on a 50 acre land. The intake of students in this college is 150 per year for MBBS degree course. The college is affiliated to the kaloji Narayana Rao University of health sciences, Warangal, Telangana.

The college came into existence in the year 2008. The college is a pride institution of Government of Bihar underr Health Department of the Government of Bihar. This institutions has been permited by the medical council of India,, New Delhi to undertake admission of 100 Students to the MBBS Course in the year 2013. Subsequently the medical council of India after proper Inspection and assesment again approved admission of 2014 and 2015 batch of students for 100 MBBS Seats.

The college is situated in a sprawling area of 21.02 acres with the attached hospital at a distance of 5kms away from it within the township of Balangir. The hospital is laid in an area of 12 acres. At the college site, the academic block, administrative block, auditorium, faculty and staff quarters, UG-Boys’ hostel, UG-Girls’ Hostel, Residents’ Hostel, cafeteria, playground, gymnasium etc, have been established.

The hospital has 300 beds with service facility of all the regular clinical departments along with ICU, ICCU, SNCU and separate OPD for each clinical department

History

The hospital was originally built in commemoration of the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1875 and was named king Albert Edward Hospital. The Foundation stone was laid by sir. James Fergusson, then Governor of Bombay o 9 march 1877. This was possible the blessings of the regional ruler Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. This project was completed in 1881. The hospital underwent many changes after Shahu Maharaj returned from England and offered free treatment to every one. In 1946.

Govt.Medical College, Kozhikode( Calicut medical College) is a premier medical college located in the city of Kozhikode in Kerala. It was established in 1957 as the second medical college in Kerala. Since then the institution has grown into a premier centre of medical education in the state. The vast and sprawling Medical College campus is spread over an extensive area of 270 acres (1.1 km²) and is located about 8 km east from the heart of Kozhikode city. It was formerly affiliated to the University of Calicut and now to the Kerala University for Health Sciences (KUHS).
