Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan a great visionary, philanthropist, a social reformer was born on 6th September 1935. Though he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but his eternal desire to serve the poor and needy Indian Muslim Community made him to choose a life full of battles and challenges. He was graduated from Stanley Medical College, Chennai and studied M.S. in Madras University. His contribution in the field of education, health care, Banking etc. in the form of Al-Ameen Movement can mesmerize anybody. He has established Al-Ameen Education Society and Al-Ameen Charitable Fund Trust to spread education in our country. He has founded the first Muslim Minority Medical College and its hospitals in India. Under his patronage, several schools, Arts, Science and Commerce colleges, Teacher Training Institute, Management Institution, Law College, College of Education, Dental College, Engineering College, Nursing School are also established.

He is the Chief Promoter and President of Amanath Co-operative Bank Ltd. (Schedule) which is having 15 branches in various parts of Karnataka. He has established and become the founder Chairman of Al-Ameen Islamic Finance and Investment Corporation (India) Ltd. This organization is the first Non-Interest Banking Finance Corporation in India which is setup on the Principles of Shariah in the year 1985. It has 11 branches all over India. He is Chief Promoter of "The Daily Salary", a Urdu daily and weekly published from Bangalore. He is also a patron at Karnataka State Young Wrestlers Welfare Trust. For his tremendous contribution in the field of education, Aligarh Muslim University honored him by electing him as Treasurer and subsequently Pro-Chancellor. He is a recipient of several awards like Karnataka Rajyothsava award (1990), Kempegowda Award, Junior Jayees Award and Public Relation Society of India Award.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is a person with unassuming personality. He has made almost a miracle in the south in bringing about a revolutionary change in the several sections of educational programme to make India one of the strongest nation in the world.

About Trust

Al-Ameen Charitable Fund Trust, Bangalore, a charitable organization was founded by the great visionary and philanthropist Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan at Bangalore in1979 with group of leading Muslim personalities. The aim of the Al-Ameen Charitable Fund Trust is to establish educational (General and Professional) institutions and welfare organizations principally for the benefit of Muslim community and other under privileged persons. Bijapur is one of the educationally and economically backward districts of Karnataka where Muslim population is sizable. For this reason the Medical College, Dental College and Nursing School were established at this historical city of the Great Adil Shahies.
Al-Ameen Charitable Fund Trust has also various educational institution viz : Primary Schools, High Schools, Junior Colleges, Degree Colleges, College of education, College of Pharmacy, Engineering College, Technical Training Institutes, Scholarship Fund, Law College and Hospitals and orphanages throughout the length and breadth of the country.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae; abbreviated in many ways, most commonly MBBS, but also MB ChB, BMBS, MB BCh, MB BChir), is the primary medical degree awarded by medical schools in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The historical degree nomenclature states that they are two separate undergraduate degrees. In practice, however, they are usually combined as one and conferred together, and may also be awarded at graduate-level medical schools.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), is a professional degree in medical science. A person holding the MBBS degree becomes a certified medical practitioner. The duration of MBBS course is five years and six months including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations (NGOs). MBBS course syllabus includes studies on anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. The syllabus, prescribed in such a way that MBBS degree holders can choose a specialisation for further majoring and practising medicine. The career specialisations for MBBS students are Nephrology, Cardiology, Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Organ Transplant, Endocrine, and General Surgery, etc.

MD - Anaesthesiology

The purpose of PG education is to create specialists who would provide high quality health care and advance the cause of science through research & training. A post graduate specialist having undergone the required training in anesthesiology should be able to recognize the health needs of the community. He or she should be competent to handle effectively medical problems and should be aware of the recent advances pertaining to his/her specialty. She/he should be highly competent anesthesiologist with broad range of skills that will enable him/her to practice anesthesiology independently. The PG student should also acquire the basic skills in teaching of medical/para-medical students. She/he is also expected to know the principles of research methodology and modes of consulting library. She/he should attend conferences, workshops and CMEs regularly to upgrade his/her knowledge. The purpose of this document is to provide teachers and learners illustrative guidelines to achieve defined outcomes through learning and assessment. This document was prepared by various subject-content specialists. The Reconciliation Board of the Academic Committee has attempted to render uniformity without compromise to purpose and content of the document. Compromise in purity of syntax has been made in order to preserve the purpose and content. This has necessitated retention of “domains of learning” under the heading “competencies”
