A long felt need of the people of Jorhat was fulfilled with the laying of the Foundation Stone of the Jorhat Medical College by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh, in presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam Sjt Tarun Gogoi, Hon’ble Union Minister of Law & Justice Shri Veerappa Moily, Hon’ble Union Minister of Mines and DoNER Shri B.K. Handique, Hon’ble Health Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble MLA Shri Rana Goswami and a galaxy of distinguished guests and a huge crowd, on the historic day of 25th August 2008.

ADITYA EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY (Reg.)   was conceived in the Year 2000 with a specific purpose and commitment to establishing institutions of academic excellence and medical services blended with spiritualism to the people of Andhra Pradesh, India and across the world. Our main aim is to nurture and tender medical tarining in moulding a competent, compassionate, skilful and proficient Indian Medical Graduate in service of humanity.

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (Formerly, Bhagalpur Medical College Bhagalpur) was founded in the year 1970 under the management of Dept. of Health, Medical education and F.W, Govt. of Bihar. The college is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna (Formerly to Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur university, Bhagalpur).

100 students are admitted annually before 31st July and classes are taken from 1st August. The process of admission is completed on or before 30th September every year.
